I know that sometimes it could be hard to divorce user experience design (ux) from user interface design. But believe me! They are quite distinctive.

I do often be mistaken for a visual designer.

So, if you not familiar with ux, you are wondering what I do?! Briefly, I am a problem solver. In a day-to-day work, through my research, I can find new insights and bring clarity to complexity.

User experience is the art and science of using design to balance function & beauty.

Additional Skills

Visual design

Through my educational background in communication design, I have solid experience in all aspects of visual design. And, long before becoming a UX designer, I had jobs in which I had full responsibility for all visual and content aspects.

Being a graphic designer for some years, provided me the ability of good understanding of corporate branding and some marketing strategies. I also have a big interest in visual culture, mainly in colour. I am amazed by the impact that colour can have on the perception of design and its restrictions on usability.

Today, this back experience in visual design, help me greatly to create wireframes and other UX documentation. This have also enabled me to increase the quality of input, which ensure that the usability standards are respected during the creative and development phases of digital interface design & production.

Search engine optimisation (SEO)

In consequence to my close contact to web projects, I felt important to be aware of search engine optimisation (SEO) techniques. In the last few years, I had spend some amount of time reading and studying best SEO practices in order to be able to provide a better and complete service to my customers as well to my projects.

Business analysis

I have a master degree in Creative Industries Management. This course, besides to open me a door to ux design, it also light me to the business world. I had classes such as business and strategy management, project funding, marketing, legislation and others. These classes has proved to be indispensable on UX projects where I have been able to clearly appreciate business drivers and priorities.

My growing interest in innovation and business drivers, allow me a new set of skills that have been useful in my UX process. I started be able to kick off meetings with business representatives and stakeholders to explore opportunities to be designed. I gain the ability to detailed analysis of the current business logic requirements in order to ensure that UX design work is fully mindful of BA planning.

UX Bridge

Soft Skills

I have experience in several different work environments. Coordinate time frames and delivery schedules. Agile design (sprint coordination). Manage visual design and asset production teams. Stakeholders communication (development team, project management, product management, and others.) Track and control iterations and approved versions. I can effectively communicate between different departments and feel comfortable interacting with new people. I am open in both my opinions and ideas and enjoy working with others to explore different perspectives. I am highly organized and enjoy bringing this asset to the team

Computer Skills
InDesign is a powerful software for creating works such as posters, flyers, brochures, magazines, newspapers, and books. With InDesign I can create and laying out periodical publications, posters, and print media. I also use this software to create users manual, since I can bring interactivity to them. InDesign can also publish content suitable for tablet devices such as e-books and digital publications, including digital magazines.
Lately, Photoshop (PS) has become a powerful tool for UX design and specially for UI design.
PS could be a support tool on the first step in the user experience process. With PS I can develop wireframe that will become the blueprint of a web design or application design. Using PS to create wireframes is a great way to begin the UX process. Because it will make all the later steps of mocking up and creating a website much easier.
I am a ninja at illustrator. This is the software that I most dominate and the one I most enjoy use. Basically, I use it for everything. No matter I am working as a Ux Designer, Ui Designer or even graphic designer. Illustrator RULES!!!
Axure & Balsamiq
It’s very hard to evaluate a design without a prototype. So, with these tools, I can make rapid prototyping. As well as, develop wireframing, documentation and specification for the developers.
Bootstrap & WordPress
I have experience in developing websites through these platforms.
Bootstrap is a free and open-source front-end framework for creating websites and web applications.
WordPress is a free and open-source content management system (CMS) based on PHP and MySQL.
Pixate is a prototyping tool for mobile interaction design. With this tool, I can create complex animations and interactions without writing code.
Pixate generates 100% native prototypes, so you can experience your ideas on device as if they’re completely real.
As well as Axure vs Balsamiq, Uxpin it is also a rapid prototyping tool. But instead of be a software, as the above, it is a platform. The main advantage of UXpin is that it is an interactive and cooperative tool. Where, an entire team can interact and leave or share feedback.
Dreamweaver is a web development tool. Is an all-in-one visual development tool for creating, publishing, and managing websites and mobile content.
Mudbox is a computer-based 3D sculpting and painting tool. In synergy with Maya, I can create some 3D elements.
During my postgraduate degree in Computer Animation, I develop basic 3D skills, mainly in Maya.
Motion 5
Motion is used to create and edit motion graphics, titling for video production and film production, and 2D and 3D compositing for visual effects.
After Effects
Similar to Motion, After Effects is a digital visual effects, motion graphics, and compositing application used in the post-production process. Among other things, After Effects can be used for keying, tracking, rotoscoping, compositing and animation. It also functions as a very basic non-linear editor, audio editor and media transcoder.
Similar to Final Cut, Premiere is a timeline-based video editing software.
I used this software some years ago. Currently, it is very rare use it. However, the knowledge stay. With Flash I can make animated banners, animations and even web applications.
